A Vision Board is a visual representation of your ideal life.
It includes: - photos of people you want in your life (my Vision Board has my family and my quartets)
- places you connect with (I have snow-peaked mountains on mine)
- objects & things you want to attract into your life
- movie characters that you admire, emulate or just resonate with
- mottos or sayings that inspire you (mine is "Follow your bliss")
- activities you want to do in your ideal life (such as going on cruises)
- products or services you want to create (mine has a CD, a book and a website)
- anything else that you feel belongs in your ideal life
A visual representation has different energy from a verbal statement. Saying "I want to go on a cruise" is one thing. Seeing a picture of a cruise ship out onto the deep blue sea or at port in a tropical island - that has a much higher attraction. And if it is on your Board and you see it there every day and night, it is guaranteed to stay on the top of your consciousness - which ends up attracting it into your life sooner or later.
Benefits of a Vision Board
- Attracting and manifesting: What is at the top of your attention ends up coming into your life. The contents of your consciousness create your reality. The more choice you exercise over your consciousness, the more you can guide your life towards what you truly want for fulfillment.
- Focusing: We humans want lots of things in life! But out of those millions of "wants", there are a few (say 5 to 15) that we truly "need" to live our ideal lives. I do want a whole lot of things, but if I were to eliminate the chaff from the wheat, I am left with only about 15 - which make up my Vision Board!
- Not getting distracted: And then there is the obvious benefit to people with ADD tendencies (such as myself!). We tend to get distracted very easily and tend to lose sight of what we really want. A visual reminder is very helpful to keep us focused. Even when we get distracted, the Board bring us back to our vision of our ideal lives.
Creating a Vision Board
Christine Kane has a great post on her blog about
creating a Vision Board,
In fact it is so well-written and detailed that I am going to recommend you go there right now and come back when you are done! The link will open in a new window or tab. Or perhaps you work at a computer for long periods of time through the day. There are ways of creating a Vision collage right on your computer.
Here is a great product called the Vision Board System from a leading company in the field for doing just that.
The advantage of creating one on your computer is that you can play with it in many ways. You can animate it, add your voice to it, add inspiring music. They also provide a great selection of photos and clip-art, so that you don't need to go gathering and cutting up magazines! Then you can make it into a screensaver or background so that you are always looking at it throughout the day.
Whichever way you do it, a Vision Board can be a very powerful tool in your arsenal for realizing your ideal life. And, based on my personal experience, the better handle you have on your vision, the more effective, meaningful and enjoyable your journey to financial freedom will be.
