A Strong Foundation is critical to long-term financial freedom.

What do I mean by Strong Foundation? Let me take a step back and explain.
In 2009 I took part in the Life Design workshop run by Jackie Woodside . Jackie is a wonderful and insightful coach, and she designed this year-long group coaching workshop. The vision that resonated with me the most was:

[To] create a life that is unrecognizable to you, filled with everything you love

Get Complete!

To me the most important tool or process that we use in the workshop was the Strong Foundation Program. This is a checklist of 100 items which, when completed, leads you to complete personal freedom. Here is how Jackie describes the objective of the program:

In our lives, we require physical, emotional, spiritual and mental wholeness in order to feel fulfilled. But it takes work to keep ourselves whole when there are things in our lives that are incomplete. To live with integrity - with a life that is a complete circle, full and whole of itself - is our goal; the Strong Foundation Program gives us a way to get there.

Incompletions are those physical, emotional or mental items that in some way unresolved in the current moment. There are 100 possible ways in which your life can be Incomplete, 25 each in the 4 Life Areas, such as:

  1. Physical Environment: For example, are your personal files, papers and receipts neatly filed away?
  2. Well-being: Have you had a complete physical examination in the last 3 years?
  3. Money: Do you pay all your bills on time? Do you live well and within your means?
  4. Relationships: Have you told the significant people in your life that you love them?
(By the way this program is a trademark of Coach U Inc. and Jackie is a licensee).

If you are looking to use this tool, another source is The 28 Laws of Attraction: Stop Chasing Success and Let It Chase You by Thomas Leonard. He has his own 100 item questionnaire called "Build a Superreserve in Every Area" divided into 10 areas.

A Backdoor Approach to Personal Growth

What is the basic idea behind this process? It is simply a backdoor approach to personal growth, business success and happiness. As Jackie writes:
"Rather than chase goals or try to figure out your life purpose, better to remove the things that are blocking you from Completion and , therefore, from balance and happiness."

As you develop your plans for financial freedom, it will be very important for you to develop a strong personal foundation. A group coaching workshop such as Jackie's Life Design can be very helpful in this process. It provides external accountability and a community where you can create your ideal life.
